Fubarbundy v Lytham Veterans
Sunday 12th March 2001

Fubar 7 - Lytham Vets 1

O'Donnell ankle scareLytham Veterans took an early lead due to confusion between the Goalie & the Centre Back in the Fubar box. Mark O'Donnell, the Centre Back, was injured during the incident and had to be carried from the pitch with an injured ankle.

From that point on Fubar controlled the game and were awarded a penalty after a corner due to a Veteran handling the ball in the area.

Fubarbundy v Booths Ansdell - 5.30pm 19.01.03

Match Report

This was Glyn Jones's first match as Player Manager.  He had a wealth of players to choose from, as the Fubar turnout was good.

Booths started strongly but were soon a goal down.  This was followed by a further two goals in the first half, one of which was a superb header from Alister.  Due to a strong back four, Fubar kept a clean sheet to go in 3:0 up at half time

In the second half Fubar were playing into a strong wind that blew in from the west, just after the restart.  Booths got a soft goal back.  Tom put an excellent cross into the area that was accurately met by Tim, 4:1.   Booth countered strongly, Carl was injured in a blistering attack up the right wing and substituted.  The Fubar defence was under pressure, Booths scored another soft goal due to defensive error 4:2 and they made it 3 with 3 minutes to go - Fubar victory 4:3 final score.

The outstanding Fubar players for the match were: Joe, Peter Whiteside, Alister & Mike Raines.  Dave Thompson put in a quality display of goalkeeping.

Match Report

Unlike the game against Booth's, Fubar struggled to form a side.  Even after recruiting two players on loan in the form of Dennis Wann & David McNiven, who we are led to believe have played a little footy in the past, we struggle in both attack and in nets.

The match started with Fubar seeming to take control, however a goal keeping handling error gave the Veterans their first.  Glyn Jones, our valiant captain, scored his first of the match to make it 2:0 to Lytham Vets, this was soon followed by a handling error - 3:0.

A combination of our strike force, Steve Jepson & James Seedall, supported by Tom, Simon Ellwood & Dennis Wann, pressed ahead and recovered a goal for Fubar, but The Vets came back strongly with two further goals, 5:1.

At this stage Tom sustained an injury and Darren took his right wing position, Glyn decided to substitute the Goalie, who had reluctantly agreed to fill the position shortly before kickoff, moving Wayne Barker from left back to nets and bringing on Mark Chadwick to fill the left back position.  Fubar held on to half time.

The second half Russell Thorpe came on for Steve Jepson and Peter Bennett replace Darren.  The Second half remained balanced, with both sides attacking well.  Wayne was performing manfully in nets.  Mark Bradley sustained an injury and young Mark took his place, then at the hour David McNiven tweaked a hamstring and Darren was brought on, Pete Bennett dropped back & Darren took a forward position.  Glyn struck again with his second of the match - 6:1 to the, but Darren took a weighted ball and curved it around the Vets keeper to score Fubar's second.  The Vets got their final goal then Darren, again, responded with his second.  He fancied a hat trick, but the match ended 7:3 to the Vets.  Disappointment for Fubarbundy, so we all drowned our sorrows by taking the Vets to the Vic for a post match debrief.

The outstanding Fubar players for the match were: Darren and Wayne.  James Seedall put in a fine performance and Dennis Wann was outstanding.
